Armando Nuñez (LAFD) Retired

“Armando Nunez’s tenure began in 1986 when he entered the Los Angeles Fire Department after graduating from UCLA with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree.

His Thirty-one years of service with the Los Angeles Fire Department has strengthened his knowledge and commitment on teaching Fire Safety and Fire prevention.  For twenty of those thirty-one years of service Armando Nunez was stationed with the Los Angeles Fire Department and his focus was on Fire and Safety Education.

As a Fire Safety Specialist, Inspector Armando Nunez has traveled, teaching and training fire departments on Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness.

Inspector Nunez was one of the pioneers of a grassroots program that found its conception with the Los Angeles Fire Department known as CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).  Inspector Nunez was instrumental in teaching Disaster prevention and Fire Safety, first throughout his community, and then throughout the United States.

Inspector Nunez has received numerous accolades, certificates and awards from various organizations, including Certificates of fitness to perform as a Health Care Facility Instructor and a certificate to perform in the service of High-rise Life Safety; and has been formerly recognized by the City of Los Angeles for his dedication, passion and commitment toward Fire Safety, Fire Prevention and Disaster relief.

Inspector Nunez spent a large portion of his life teaching fire safety and prevention. It was a bittersweet moment when he hung up his fire and safety gear for the last time in 2014, when he retired from the Los Angeles Fire Department in 2014; notwithstanding, his commitment to serve and protect his community continues to be a fire that burns as bright as it did when he first embarked on his journey of fire safety and prevention.”
